HOUSE

General presentation

Front of House

Front of House
From the outside the house has the traditional appearance of a typical Spanish home. But it has been completely renovated to a high standard of comfort, convenience and style. The interior result is a combination of old and new which respects the rustic character of the past yet allows for contemporary taste.

Whilst the materials used, terracotta and chestnut, for example, reflect its history, the feel inside is much lighter and more spacious than before. Gone are the stark contrasts of white walls against gloomy dark ceilings and doors, typical of much of Spain. Here the look is softer and more comfortable to live with. The beautiful chestnut beams are still there but now painted a rich cream. The walls too are delicately coloured to gently reflect light around the house.

The front door opens into a large hall, softly lit by a choice of either moroccan wall lamps or a glittering chandelier. The pale walls and similar coloured beamed ceiling keep the look simple and characterful. The floor is terracotta tiled.

To the left are the original chestnut doors leading into the main living area of about 40m2. This room too has ancient beams, painted cream and terracotta flooring. There is one new chestnut window to the front and two french windows at the back leading out onto the patio. There is a terrific Jotul wood burning stove for cooler evenings.
